The handle was the simplest part to make as it involved just six stitches in a continuous round, however again a stitch marker is needed otherwise the round may become uneven if a stitch is misplaced. This was then sewn onto the lip on the cup at the top and curved to make a tea meg handle.

The tea was the trickiest part to make as I had to extend each stitch so the circle increased. Using a 10.0mm hook I stated of with a chain of 6 and then turned it into a round. I placed two knit stitches (double crochet) into singular stitch which thankfully extended the diameter of the circle large enough that it could sit on the top of the tea cup.
The cup was stuffed with shredded calico and then the tea sewn over the top of the calico taking care to sew the edges into the cup so no calico was showing and it formed a whole unit. The finalised product was a cup of camomile tea . This is quite large for a cup for the size of the boater hat so it has been suggested that I try making a cup half the size out of a different medium. So that there are several comparisons I have decided to make two more one smaller version out of white double knit wool and one larger out of organza . From this we shall be able to tell which has the structural integrity to stay upright on the hat and what size shall be correct. Below is the finished camomile tea cup.
