Mad Hatters Charity Tea Party 2013, The start of a new project.

The Mad Charity Tea Party was started up in 2010 in order to raise money for CFK (Cystic Fibrosis Kids) of Portsmouth through the use of the theme childhood memories. This has become an annual event which includes bouncy castles, fairground games, tea&cakes along with performances from the Alice in Wonderland cast throughout the day. This year the event shall be held on the 27th July on Castlefield, Portsmouth.

This Event shall be my full Extended Major Project. For this event I shall be supervising and interpreting/ making the costumes for the event which were designed by Elizabeth Cooke. On the day of the event I shall be dressing and the costume mistress.

After previously working on the event before I feel that costume contributes a lot to the characters development as well as the authenticity of the entire day. Children come to the event to see, meet and interact with the characters and through immersive performance children can join in with parts of the performance such as the red queens stocks and The Mad Hatters story time.

Along with the event I shall be working with knitting circles, children and adult groups to create some props for the event, mainly the cakes and tea party food which shall be placed onto the main table and around stalls. I shall use a set of knitting patters as well as creating patterns myself which shall be used as teaching aids. I would like to start out my career as a workshop co-ordinator then progress to a teacher. This part of the project shall not only allow me to gain a sense of insight into what it involves but also see if I am cut out for the job.

From this project I am hoping to become more confident within the workroom practices as well as build upon my previous knowledge. It has been addressed that I need to be more confident about my work and within myself . Therefore I propose to work on these points within this project in order to progress further within the industry and my future profession.

I shall be marked on two costumes and a supervisors file along with my personal journal which shall be kept here on my blog.
